Suck it Up

Commercial images promise status, offer solutions to inadequacy, and breed entitlement. Internalized deficiency has created a culture of resentment. Suck it up: a piece confronting the violent fallout of male insecurity and entitlement.

Originally co-commissioned by The 92nd Street Y and The University of Maryland, Suck it Up began as a 20 minute duet.   We dream of expanding this work onto a larger group of male-identifying performers.  This group of men traverses their cultural landscapes, transforming into street gangs, corporate boards, incel trolls, warehouse ravers, sports hooligans, paramilitary militias. The piece is filled with raucous comedy, bubbling violence, and tender brotherhood.

We imagine a group work for 6-10 men.
